RE:New Accord/Accord FL Owners...here please!   BS driver thanks... i havent checked my manual - was going by the SA's word that the free service covers it at 40,000km. Hmm - this is interesting. If the manual recommends 60,000km then why are they recommending it at 20,000? Dagnammit. Must check the manual and try contact Honda...

RE:New Accord/Accord FL Owners...here please!   a couple of questions for you guys just did the 20,000km service on my accord 2.4 1. Transmission fluid change - the free maintenance package will only cover ATF change every 40,000km, but the service centre recommended that i change it at my own expense. Since I've read that the US Accords have had some transmission issues, i agreed. How often do you guys change your ATF fluid? 2. Another thing which was recommended was to have my aircon serviced (at my own cost). It's performing really well at the moment - i'm reluctant to "kacau" it. So, i told them i'll do it on the next service. Do you guys have your aircon serviced by the Honda service centres every 20,000km? thanks

RE:New Accord/Accord FL Owners...here please!   1. Transmission fluid change - the free maintenance package will only cover ATF change every 40,000km, but the service centre recommended that i change it at my own expense Are you sure?. The pre-FL manual mentioning that the ATF are suppose to be changed at 60k km (for heavy usage) and 100k km for normal driving. Infact i want to change at 50k km service, but the SC guys advice me to follow the schedule.

RE:New Accord/Accord FL Owners...here please!   Thanks thagops. I will get them to check on that. At least now I know where i can direct the techs to. Guess the first lesson in becoming a honda tech is to deny everything... ha ha. Golof, I just got my aircond serviced. my acceleration feels much lighter now. Maybe as the fins got clogged the compressor was causing a higher load. I just serviced it becoz they kept reminding me to do so. Not that I found something wrong with my ac. Anyway, I am pretty happy with the job (Rm 250 for service, Rm 150 filter (change only if necessary). But obviously you can get it done outside cheaper. Did my a/c service only at 55k. Got the same thing from SC. they put a serious face and said i need to service at every 20-25k. I find it absurd.

RE:New Accord/Accord FL Owners...here please!   Hey Dina, I have seen a similar situation as your dancing steering wheel before. It was on another Honda product, though; so, I can't say it is the same problem. But you could get someone to look at your 'tie-rods.' I had inner bushings worn out on both 'tie-rods.' Of course, my car was over 10 years old at that time and it was expected. So, I'm not sure if it applies to a newer car. But guessing by all the problems faced by the pre-fl version of the Accord, I would say there is quite a good chance. Honda Fanatic.

RE:New Accord/Accord FL Owners...here please!   As for the guys speculating on when the new Accord's going to get launched. There is little to guess when it comes to Honda's production cycle. Accords are on a 5 year cycle. This particular edition was initially released as a 2003 model. So, 2007 will make it the last year of production. In bigger markets (U.S.) the new model (2008) will be release in late Sept to catch the Xmas shopping season. Unfortunately since not as many Malaysian consider buying an Accord a necessity, we will only get it in late Jan, early Feb, 2008. Hope this helps in some of your buying decisions.

RE:New Accord/Accord FL Owners...here please!   Hi wolverine, How much did you get your GR80 for & where was it. I have been sourcing out at a couple of places and found the yoko c-drive for RM 298. But havent't changed yet. The more forums i read the more confused I become. I have a similar problem with the camber. The SC refuses to acknowledge the issue and everytime i send my car they say its the alignment and recently blamed it on the tires. So I've politely told them that I'll change my tires then go back to them. I have an appointment this week to have my engine mounting changed and had my Front discs changed last week. They claim both this items are of better quality. Apparently the current engine mounting is of 7 pieces and the new ones are 10pcs. Lets see. I have another annoying problem. My steering wheel feels really loose. It sort of 'dances' to left and right on uneven road when i take my hands off the steering. My car wanders to the left and right and the handling have become really bad. Is it that my tires are bad? Please, anyone.. gimme some feedback on this. Devan

RE:New Accord/Accord FL Owners...here please!   Hi all, I have upgraded my tyres to Bridgestone GR80.Quite smooth it seems. But the car hardly goes to any distance after that.I found that the grip is a bit lesser than I expected.A category B tyre,I should not have expected too much.[:p] I guess I have to travel at least 500km for the run in of the tyres before I could know for sure if the grip is good. It's a comfortable tyre but our Accord's interior is quite noisy.I have asked around for a very good sound insulation materials from Dynamat and the installation for the whole car has been quoted at RM4,000.Quite expensive[B)] I have used Bridgestone potenza G3 tyres before and I love the performance of that tyre. Not too noisy and grip levels are to my expectations.Don't know whether the GR80 is near to the G3 tyre grip. hopefully it's not too bad.Noise levels however could be presumed very low[:)] Since getting the car,I have it faomed,ICE change to Alpine systems,GR80 tyres,Brake disc chane 4 times, still judder like mad after some time of usage[:0] and the next project is to install modulo bodykit and change the color to Diamond pearl. And upgrade the damn brake disc.I have asked the 6 pot caliper VTTR disc and they quote me RM5,000.OUCH... too expensive at this moment[:D] The noise in the Accord seems to be caused by the inferior rubber seals materials they factory installed for the doors. The best way to do is getting an aftermarket noise insulation if you have the money, cause money does the talking here[:D] Good luck with your Accord guys. By the way,I still loved the Accords ride and handling composure. It's quite good for such a large sedan. And experinece wise,I found that 33psi for front tyres and 31 psi for rear tyres give the best compromise for comfort and good handling while accelerating. Have a safe drive[^]
